Circle Squared Series

The Circled Squared work evolved out of the remote-controlled drawings. Instead of drawing on a single sheet of paper, I decided one day, for a piece called Crossing Borders, to work on a series of smaller pieces. However, while making this remote-control drawing, several pieces of paper moved, disrupting the circle. Although initially frustrated, and angry with myself for not taping the paper together, I soon started to look at this accident with new eyes and began to expand on this idea of reorganising the drawing of a circle. Naturally, there are connections to the Zen Buddhist Enso tradition, but as the title suggests, it also reflects the ongoing, ambiguous challenge of attempting to solve unsolvable problems.
