Phoenix Bowl Series
In the Phoenix Bowl Series, I literally take a wooden bowl and place it momentarily in the flame of a blowtorch to create some charcoal and then with the bowl I start to draw an image of itself. This process of burning and drawing is repeated over and over again and with each cycle the wooden bowl gradually disappears leaving behind a two-dimensional image of itself – transforming reality into abstraction.
